Shinan district of Qingdao, a renowned coastal tourist city in East China's Shandong province, has witnessed significant progress in its quest to improve the city's environment and living standards.
One of the key measures taken is the introduction of urban renewal projects that help preserve cultural heritage and improve the city's appearance and living environment.
Specifically, Shinan district has been taking steps to elevate its tourism brand to a "5A" level. The district has also established the "World's Most Beautiful Bay" and seen a five times increase in the number of daily visitors to its coastal scenic areas.
To further integrate culture and tourism, popular IPs such as "Up Street Alley" have been developed. These IPs have contributed to a 20 percent increase in consumer spending at major commercial establishments within the Zhongshan area.
Furthermore, the district has made significant strides in enhancing tourism services. Eight tourism service stations that feature elements of Qingdao's renowned marine, beer and sailing industries have been established. These facilities provide convenient and efficient consumer leisure amenities that showcase the charm of a city.
Shinan district has also created the "City Embellished with Flowers" campaign to shine a spotlight on its natural environment. The campaign, which involves the development of pocket parks and green corridors, has resulted in over 25,000 square meters of seasonal and perennial flowers being planted.
In response to public feedback, the district has also spent 1.55 billion yuan ($212 million) to transform old residential communities, a move that has improved the happiness and satisfaction levels of residents.
