The Marine Science Museum of Qingdao, in East China's Shandong province, has been making efforts to further popularize marine science knowledge to the public with diverse methods and exhibits.
Among these efforts is the setting up of three display halls to showcase the origins, evolution and current condition of the ocean.
All three exhibition halls feature advanced sound and lighting technologies, and offer guided tours that impart knowledge about the marine world, geography, biology and history.
The museum also displays replicas of China's iconic marine equipment, such as the Jiaolong manned submersible and the Xuelong research icebreaker.
The Jiaolong manned submersible is China's first self-developed deep-sea manned submersible. The sub, which can dive to a depth of 7,500 meters, made China the fifth country in the world to have deep-sea exploration technology.
The Xuelong research icebreaker, which has been used on the nation's polar expeditions, have provided valuable data and information for research on climate change and environmental protection, while demonstrating the nation's strength in polar technologies and cooperation.
