The Yinhai Geman Yacht Dock in Shinan district of Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, underwent renovations recently.
The dock, situated near Qingdao's iconic landmarks, May Fourth Square and Qingdao Music Square, is a popular destination.
"To offer visitors a clear view, we have installed custom-made glass panels on the stationary platform. This allows them to observe a wide range of sites from the pedestrian walkway," said the head of the dock.
"After replacing the sunshade with a retractable frame, the height has decreased. In addition, we have extended the sunshade front by 80 centimeters while maintaining the original stalls, providing a shaded area for visitors to escape the scorching summer heat," the person in charge added.
Furthermore, the dock has extended invitations to local companies like Tsingtao Brewery Co Ltd and Laoshan Mineral Water Co Ltd to set up booths. They have also organized exhibitions showcasing calligraphy, painting and other intangible cultural heritages. Additionally, they have set up several rest areas, including tourist service areas for special groups.
Shinan district plans to improve the Yinhai German Yacht Dock by transforming it into a major landmark that emphasizes sea sightseeing as well as coffee and tea drinking. To achieve this, they will refine the dock and introduce new features including a wave-shaped seaside promenade and landmark sculptures.
