Shinan district in Qingdao city of Shandong province is injecting new vitality into its economy while comprehensively boosting its high-quality development.

Key projects 

There are now 154 key projects in Shinan, or 43 more than the end of last year. The district focuses on such fields as catering, culture and art, and entertainment, and has attracted 68 new cultural tourism projects and 56 leading art experience projects.

Shinan has worked to full integrate the resources of "food, accommodation, love, collection, etiquette, museum, travel and entertainment" in Shangjieli and has also launched eight major consumer brands. 

City makeover 

Shinan recently renovated 64 old buildings in Sanyuan Road that benefited 2,551 households. The second batch of renovation projects started construction at the end of April, involving 404 residential buildings on four streets and more than 10,000 households. 

The district optimizes its coastal greenway and surrounding public green space, connecting seven scenic areas and eight major landscape sites.

Eight tourist stations with different themes such as maritime culture, Red culture, and youth culture provide residents and tourists with ample public spaces for consumption, reading and leisure.  

Cultural tourism

This year, Shinan has launched an array of cultural tourism activities and benefitted from the robust sales at 12 large commercial malls such as Haitian Center, Hisense Plaza, Mixc, Mykal and Aeon. 

The district has attracted shops with diverse formats and unique courtyard scenes, forming new consumption scenarios. From Silver Fish Street to Sanjiangli and Taixingli, these old streets and courtyards are popular spots attracting residents and tourists to stop by. 

Shinan strives to create rich consumption environments that are "immersive, interactive and experiential" while also upgrading consumption experiences such as eating, accommodation, transportation, tourism, shopping and entertainment.

Through fairs, music corners, night tours of Fushan Bay, and night views of various scenic spots, visitors can get a deeper understanding of Qingdao's local culture and locals' lifestyles.
