Celebrities' former residences in Shinan

During the 1920s and 1930s, a large number of cultural celebrities lived in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, including Kang Youwei, Lao She, Wen Yiduo, Liang Shiqiu, and Wang Tongzhao, and left behind a number of historical residences.
Ever year, numerous visitors pay visits to the former residences of Chen Gan and Lin Jiqing on No. 5 Guanxiang 1 st Road in Shinan district, Qingdao to learn about the stories of Chen Gan and Lin Jiqing.

Guanxiang 1st Road was built in 1918, and was initially a small road called Qian Ye Tong. Later, it was named after its winding turns at the foot of Guanxiang Mountain. The entire road is filled with small European style buildings made of granite, with stone steps leading to courtyards along the roadside.
No. 1 Guanxiang 1st Road is home to the former residences of Xiao Hong, Xiao Jun, and Shu Qun, who are all famous writers, and the small building located at No. 5 Guanxiang 1st Road is the former residence of Chen Gan and Lin Jiqing, a revolutionary and educator, respectively.
The building covers an area of 450 square meters and has a construction area of approximately 239 square meters. It has a brick and wood structure that faces south. The house has two floors above ground with an attic and a basement, granite foundation, red tile sloping roof, yellow plastered exterior wall, and an entry gate decorated with stone.
