A children's tour was recently organized at Qingdao Western Old Town, which is located in Qingdao's Shinan district. Here are some of the places they visited.
At the former residence of Lao She, who was a famous writer, artist and great master of the Chinese language, the children read parts of the famous novel Camel Xiangzi, and had a glimpse of the great writer's life.
No 14 Courtyard on Daxue Road is where the architectural cultures of the west and the east meet. It once was a dormitory for staff working at Qingdao China Bank. The children acclaimed the beautiful sea view and relished in Qingdao's folk culture.
Walking into the violet arenaceous museum, or museum of sand-made items, which sits at the foot of Xinhao Mountain, the children had a taste of violet arenaceous culture, and were impressed by the sophisticated skill of the craftsmen. Alongside that, they also had a better understanding of tea culture by observing ancient tea pots made of violet arenaceous.
Standing on top of the Xinhao Mountain, the children filled their eyes with Shinan's beauty, as tourist destinations such as Zhanqiao Pier and the Site of the German Governor's Palace were in view.
After a visit to the Children's theatre, where they watched marvelous magic shows, they ended the tour and are proud of being the sons and daughters of the city.
