Situated in the eastern part of Qingdao, Shandong province, Badaguan, which is also known as Eight Great Passes, was originally built at the beginning of the last century and the current pattern was basically formed in the 1930s. Thanks to its distinctive exotic architectural styles, Badaguan owns the reputation of being an "Exhibition of the World's Architecture".
Most ordinary people could only catch a glimpse of Badaguan in the past, and it was impossible for commoners to enter most of the buildings. However, thanks to tourism promotion and urban renewal construction, Badaguan is now open to the public.
The Hua Shi Lou building is closest to the beach. Visitors have a choice of standing on the roof of the building to enjoy views of the sea, the sky, the mountains, and the entire Badaguan scenic area or inside it to sip coffee and enjoy their quiet time.
Badaguan is a popular destination for couples to take wedding photos. As one strolls along the seashore and green spaces, dozens of newlywed couples can be seen taking their wedding photos.
The Badaguan scenic area is a wonderful destination year-round for those who enjoy plants. Peaches, Lagerstroemia, and pentagonal maples can all be found on Shaoguan Road, Zhengyang Road, and Juyongguan Road, respectively.
