Shinan district in Qingdao was recognized as one of Shandong's top 10 counties (county-level cities and districts) for health and nursing-themed tourism during the Shandong Tourism Development Conference on June 26.

Shinan will benefit from a number of supportive policies regarding funding and utilizing land donated by the provincial departments of finance, culture and tourism, and public health as a result of the honor.

In recent years, Shinan has utilized its advantageous climate, location, culture, and traditional Chinese medicine industry to push forward the integrated development of rehabilitation, healthcare and cultural tourism, aiming to become a first-class coastal garden-like resort for tourists who seek relaxation and recuperation.

In order to create the greatest cluster of coastal sanatoriums in China, the district updated its healthcare, culture, and tourism resources in the Badaguan (Eight Great Passes) scenic area, which is famous for its garden villas and Western-style buildings.

By 2025, Shinan aims to establish 20 characteristic healthcare tourism projects, develop at least five healthcare-themed travel routes, cultivate five leading healthcare enterprises, upgrade 10 sanatoriums and establish five national-level coastal centers integrating culture, tourism and healthcare.
