The elegant and rippling music lingered in the air long after the performance finished on Dec 19 of the guzheng – the Chinese plucked zither – at the Qingdao Concert Hall in the Shinan district of Qingdao city, in East China's Shandong province.

The classical songs from home and aboard alternately entertained fans in Shinan during the 3-hour concert. A raft of musical styles, different playing methods and great combinations of instrumentation showcased the age-old charms of the guzheng vividly.

The audience was deeply enchanted and the sustained applause best summed up their appreciation for the lovely concert.
