The history of Qingdao's urban development originated in Shinan district, and has always been closely linked with the history of the Communist Party of China, the history of reform and opening up, and the history of the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Integration of culture and tourism to boost tourism in Shinan

Badaguan is an historical residential area known for its stylish European villas that lies along the coastline of Qingdao's Shinan district. For many, the old buildings of Badaguan offer a fascinating look into a bygone era.

Shinan has recently emerged as a stronger and more confident player in the national health arena. The Qingdao Sanatorium, founded in 1950, was one of the first "four national recuperation bases" and has been visited by many important figures.

In an effort to build Shinan into the core area of the modern international city of Qingdao and a leader in the fashion industry, culture and tourism have been integrated to highlight local characteristics and improve the city's reputation.

Qingdao Western Old Town revitalized

During renovations in the historic city, the Qingdao Western Old Town was reconstructed and upgraded, injecting momentum into Shinan district's development.

A widening and renovation project on Jinan Road in the district's Zhongshan Road business area was completed and opened to the public in early April.

The integrated development of culture and tourism has made the town much more vibrant and lively.
