A concert to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, or CPC was held on May 23 in the Shinan district of Qingdao city – located in East China's Shandong province – according to local media reports.

The concert began with a recital of the poem At the Beginning, which recounts the eventful course of the CPC over 100 years and the history of the struggles of the CPC and the people, since its founding.

Classical music and songs exhorted listeners to "stay true to the original aspirations and founding mission" – the engagement between CPC members and the people, who between them found the courage and confidence to embark on a new journey to establish a modern socialist country.
