Qingdao Aquarium, (also known as Qingdao Museum of Marine Products), established in 1930, was the first aquarium in China. It officially opened in 1932, as the predecessor of the China Oceanographic Research Institution.
The museum has 1,950 species and more than 20,000 specimens, including about 15,000 invertebrates, 3,000 vertebrates and 2,000 seaweeds.
It aims to popularize marine knowledge and preserve marine ecology.
