A forum for intangible cultural heritage items was held in Shinan, Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, on July 17.
The event was attended by inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items, including paper-cutting inheritor Xue Yuhong, silhouette inheritor Zhou Kesheng, and pyrography inheritor Teng Fengming. A number of artists from foreign countries such as the Ukraine also attended the event.
The director of the Longyuan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exchange Center in Qingdao said that "Telling the story of intangible cultural heritage items is important not only for the recognition of the skills of an intangible cultural heritage master, but also for traditional Chinese culture."
The Cultural and Creative Museum of the Palace Museum in Shinan will hire lecturers and establish a studio for intangible cultural heritage items in the near future, so that more artisans can share their artistic process through audio, video, and livestreams.
The forum of intangible cultural heritage items aims to promote and preserve intangible cultural heritage and bring it into the modern world, honor the value of craftsmanship, and improve Shinan's reputation.
