Shinan district in Qingdao has taken a series of measures to develop a tourism industry based on its abundant resources.

Measures have been taken to develop coastal tourism. Based on the Olympic Sailing Center and Yinhai International Yacht Club, new tourism types, such as offshore traveling, have been emerging in Shinan. The district has developed offshore tourism and leisure tourism projects, such as "watch Qingdao on the sea" and artistic performances. Qingdao Tourism Group recently signed a cooperation agreement with Qingdao Zhongyuan Group and Hainan Wuzhizhou Island Tourism Development Co Ltd to further develop offshore tourism.

The district is also working to develop MICE tourism. It published an MICE tourism brochure which includes information about meeting places, hotels and related services. It arranged Qingdao International Conference Center and major enterprises in the district to attend the Shanghai International Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Expo in March where they had discussion with more than 30 MICE enterprises from South Korea, Macao and other places. The district has held a series of major MICE activities, such as Huawei CEO Conference and 2019 5G Intelligent Audiovisual Conference, and won the title 2018 China Most Competitive MICE District.

Wedding tourism is developing rapidly in Shinan. The district has introduced several wedding service brands and held wedding-related activities, such as Qingdao Wedding Cultural Week and Wedding Industry Forum. A number of wedding tourism enterprises, experts and new couples have been attracted to Qingdao, further improving the district's popularity as a wedding tourism destination.
