Recently, at the invitation of Samcheok city of South Korea, a 20-member delegation from Dongying of East China's Shandong province, including government officials and folk artists, visited Samcheok to carry out friendly exchange activities, achieving fruitful results.
During the visit, Samcheok mayor Park Sang-su met with the delegation. Both sides reviewed the achievements of the 26-year sister-city relationship and discussed future cooperation under the sister-city framework. They agreed to use this visit as an opportunity to deepen collaboration, expand areas of cooperation, and jointly promote tourism, social work, and economic trade.
Cultural exchange serves as a solid bridge connecting the two cities. The delegation hosted an exhibition demonstrating Dongying's photography and calligraphy. Thirty selected works from Dongying vividly showcased the unique landscapes, ecology, and urban charm of the Yellow River estuary, earning high praise from Samcheok artists.
As part of Samcheok's Arts Festival, Dongying artists put on a program featuring local Lyu opera, folk songs, and suona (a traditional instrument), earning enthusiastic applause from audiences. The performances fostered mutual understanding and created a cultural resonance between the two cities.
This exchange effectively deepened the sister-city mechanism, enhanced people-to-people ties, and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation and sustainable development of Dongying-Samcheok relations.
