Dongying city in East China's Shandong province is seeing remarkable growth in its offshore wind farms that are propelled by a steadfast commitment to sustainable development.
Located 20 kilometers from Dongying Port in the Bohai Sea, the Wind Power Site A project made history as the nation's first to generate renewable energy under parity pricing for approved offshore initiatives.

This offshore wind farm, with an impressive total installed capacity of 9.5 million kilowatts, can generate 31.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually - almost equal to Dongying's total consumption in 2021. Completed sites A, B1, and B2 alone contribute 1.4 million kilowatts, representing 30 percent of Shandong's offshore wind power capacity.
Dongying achieved global milestones with the deployment of CSSC Haizhuang's 18-megawatt turbines. Each turbine generates 74 million kilowatt-hours per year, sufficient to power 40,000 households. The project also houses Asia's largest test center for offshore turbine drive systems.
By 2023, the city's wind power installations reached 2.49 million kilowatts, producing 4.99 billion kilowatt-hours annually. As of September 2024, the total renewable energy capacity increased to 6.92 million kilowatts, with offshore wind playing a pivotal role in meeting all incremental energy demands.
The installation of the Guangli Port Wind Power Terminal has streamlined production, logistics, and export processes, which has created the country's most extensive and integrated wind power equipment cluster.
Offshore wind power continues to propel Dongying's modernization efforts and contributes significantly to China's green development goals.
