Chinese medical team conducts Sino-Barbados medical and cultural exchanges
A Sino-Barbados medical and cultural exchange activity integrating medical science and Chinese medical treatment was recently held at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.
This was the first time that the Chinese medical team had entered a university to communicate with local young students, which not only enhanced their understanding of the Chinese medical team, but also showcased different aspects of the fast-growing modern China.
The event was co-organized by the third Chinese medical team providing aid in Barbados and the Confucius Institute at the Cave Hill Campus.
At the event, Wang Dong, captain of the Chinese medical team, briefed those present on the team and their specialties.
Yan Cheng, a nuclear radiologist introduced his discipline and especially mentioned the lack of nuclear medicine professionals in the Eastern Caribbean, inspiring medical students to join the field.
Fu Qining, a vascular surgeon, introduced the achievements made by China in the field of medical treatment and health care since the reform and opening up, and interpreted the advantages of going to China for in-depth medical study. He mentioned that the Barbados government recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese government on the Belt and Road Initiative, according to which more Barbadian medical students and doctors will have the opportunity to study in China.
Other doctors, including He Ping, Xie Jie, Sun Yang and Liu Zhenzhen, also addressed the event on topics such as the current situation and development of the Chinese emergency medicine system and how to adjust the psychological states of adolescents in face of possible problems they may have.
The event won high praise from the local dean of the Confucius Institute, David Bulbulia, and the Chinese dean Song Qingbao.
