Chinese medical team in Papua New Guinea
China started to send medical teams to Papua New Guinea in 2002 at the request of the country's government. The Chongqing Health Commission undertook the project. To date, the commission has sent nine medical teams with 90 staff members to Papua New Guinea.
In the past 16 years, Chinese medical teams has held more than 1,000 trainings and donated medical facilities and medicine to effectively construct the public health system.
In December of 2017, China and Papua New Guinea signed a medical cooperative contract under which the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University will help the general hospital of Port Moresby to construct an endourology minimally invasive surgery center. The parties will seek further medical cooperation.
Chinese medical team in Barbados
China sent its first medical team to Barbados in 2016, consisting of eight team members.
Every Barbados medical team lasts for half a year and has eight medical technicians.
The medical team in Barbados works in Elizabeth Queen Hospital in Bridgetown which is the largest and best medical center serving surrounding islands.
