Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture in Southwest China's Guizhou province experienced an influx of 2.51 million travelers during the three-day tomb-sweeping holiday, up 62.41 percent from last year.
Data from the Qianxinan Tourism and Development Commission shows that total tourism revenue reached 1.58 billion yuan ($250.82 million) from April 5 to 7, up 50.58 percent.
Tomb-sweeping Day, or Qingming Festival, is an important occasion for Chinese people to honor their ancestors. Many also take the opportunity to travel.
Qianxinan is striving to develop all-for-one tourism, diversify its tourism model and provide a better travel experience.
During this year's holiday, scenic areas in Qianxinan, including Wanfeng Forest, Maling River Valley and Shuangru Mountain, remain the major draws for travelers.
Various flowers now in bloom in several scenic areas such as the former residence of He Yingqin and Guizhouchun Scenic Area also attracted many visitors over the three-day holiday.
Rural tourism and private car tourism have become new trends, with ethnic villages in Qianxinan seeing an uptick in visitors this year. Most travelers from neighboring provinces, including Yunnan province, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Chongqing municipality, chose to drive their own cars to enjoy spring in Qianxinan.
