During the Two Sessions, Ouyang Qiansen, deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of Literary Federation of Guizhou province, was interviewed where he shared his opinion on the development of Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.
Born in Tongren, Guizhou province, Ouyang Qiansen is an influential and prolific writer and scriptwriter in China. His works have received multiple awards and many of them reflect the colorful culture of Guizhou province. He wrote the scripts for several popular TV dramas that were filmed in Qianxinan prefecture.
When asked about the attraction of Qianxinan prefecture compared to other similar destinations, Ouyang Qiansen said, "The core competitiveness of Qianxinan prefecture is mountain tourism. With a typical karst landform, it boasts the most beautiful natural scenery in Guizhou province like Wanfenglin, Wanfeng Lake, Maling River Canyon, and Shuangru Peak. Qianxinan prefecture has scenery that is magnificent as well as exquisite. It has a lot to offer in culture and tourism."
Additionally, Ouyang Qiansen mentioned that there are more than 900 cultural sites of the Long March in Guizhou province, more than any other province in China.
"The spirit of the Long March is an invaluable part of China's heritage and should be carried on into contemporary society. Qianxinan prefecture should fully utilize the resources of those historic sites," he said.
He also added that culture is key to developing tourism. Qianxinan prefecture has rich cultural resources including mountainous geography, ethnic, and revolutionary cultures. The prefecture needs to dig deep into their culture and further integrate these resources to combine the development of tourism with poverty alleviation.
