Secret of Qianxinan’s booming tourism

In the interview with the delegation from Guizhou province at the Two Sessions on March 9, Yang Yongying, deputy to the National People's Congress and governor of Qianxinan prefecture said, "You are all welcome to come visit Qianxinan prefecture, to experience the beauty of a mountainous region, its culture, and its environment." 

In recent years, the annual growth rate of the number of tourists and the tourist revenue of Qianxinan prefecture was above 45 percent, promoting the development of the region.

Qianxinan prefecture's area of mountainous region accounts for 96 percent of its total area, 11 percentage points higher than Switzerland, a country known as the "land of mountains". 

With a lowest altitude of 275 meters and a highest altitude of 2,207.2 meters, Qianxinan prefecture has a pleasant climate where it's cool in summer and temperate in winter. In 2018, Qianxinan prefecture's air quality was rated "A" throughout the year, a natural oxygen bar.

There are more than 800 intangible cultural heritages in Qianxinan prefecture including folk dance, folk stunts, festivals, and folk customs. 

The "eight-instrument singing" of the Bouyei ethnic group has the reputation of being "heavenly". The folk dance of the Yi ethnic minority is called an "oriental tap dance" comparable to Ireland's Riverdance. The Zhabai singing festival of the Bouyei people, praised as "pilgrimage of love", has enjoyed its popularity for over hundreds of years.

In the interview, Yang Yongying also presented two boxes of tea and invited the journalists to have a taste. In the tea trade fair on March 9 held in Puan county, "the home of ancient tea trees", the trade volume reached 92.8 million yuan ($14.67 million). Due to the unique climate and environment, Puan's spring tea usually enters the market 15 to 20 days ahead of other tea-growing regions, enjoying the reputation of "earliest spring tea of Guizhou province".
