Qianxinan prefecture in Guizhou province plans to relocate some 158,000 rural people to towns, as a part of its targeted poverty alleviation efforts.
The initiative covers those who have lived for years in mountainous regions mired in poverty.
According to its arrangements with the government, Qianxinan will lift people out of poverty by relocating them to towns and promote the development of urbanization, agricultural modernization and tourism industrialization.
To ensure that the relocated people have a source of income, Qianxinna prefecture will implement a "rural revitalization strategic plan".
According to the plan, there has to be at least one person employed in every household. The plan enhances employment training and helps relocated people with job-hunting. It will build 25 residential areas and ensure public facilities and services to improve people's sense of well-being.
