Foreign trade up in Qianxinan

Updated: 2017-12-07

Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture has witnessed rapid growth in foreign trade as import-export volume increased from $15.31 million in 2012 to $200 million in 2015.

In recent years, Qianxinan adopted the strategy of "go global" and encouraged local companies to expand their imports and exports. They have organized business trips to foreign exhibitions such as Guizhou and Korea Activity Week, the China-ASEAN Exposition and the South Asia Expo.

To improve local companies' ability in foreign trade, Qianxinan has offered many supportive policies. The prefecture has clarified the procedures involved in import and export business including customs, commodity inspection, and foreign exchange and tax affairs and compiled a list of relevant matters including the materials they need to prepare. When companies have to go through the procedures, the list is offered for their assistance.

The export commodities from Qianxinan were insufficient, consisting of just white spirits and Miao medicine. Now the prefecture has expanded its business portfolio to nine kinds of commodities including clothing, tea, flowers, handbags, stones and vegetables.
