The adorable joyous faces of children smiled bright as they studied classic Chinese sinology while dressed in traditional Chinese clothes during a cultural event held in Xingyi city, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture on Nov 24. 

To embrace sinology – the study of Chinese language, history, philosophies, customs, and politics – children learned to read classic works like The Three Character Primer and Disciple gauge, under their teachers' guide. 

The First Writing Ceremony, also called the Qi Meng (Enlightenment) Ceremony, was also held at the event. This event was once considered a very important ceremony for every student before they were admitted to school in ancient China. Teachers usually would give them a red dot on their forehead to open the "wisdom eye".
