Xingyi runners scale new heights in Mountain International Half Marathon

A runner from Xingyi took the gold medal in the women's race of the 2017 Mountain International Half Marathon in Zhenfeng, Guizhou province on Oct 29.

Li Juhua, one of 30 members of Xingyi Running Group who took part in the race, left her rivals in the dust to take first place with a time of 1 hour 36 minutes and 50 seconds. She took home 5,000 yuan ($755) in prize money for her victory.

More than 5,000 people took part in the event in total, including runners from Guizhou, Hunan, Zhejiang, Sichuan and Guangdong provinces. They competed in men's and women's half marathon, 10-kilometer and 3.5-kilometer races.

Li was not the only Xingyi athlete to put in an impressive performance. The city's runners also took 16th, 19th and 22nd places in the women's half marathon, and 30th position in the men's.
