In the first three quarters of 2017, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture in Southwest China's Guizhou province received more than 35.5 million tourists, bringing in a total tourism income of 26.7 billion yuan ($4.02 billion).
Since the beginning of the year, Qianxinan has hosted more than 10 major tourism activities, including 2017 International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Activities and Qianxinan Food Festival, to lure more visitors.
Additionally, the prefecture invested more than 3.8 billion yuan to improve the infrastructure and tourism services. The Fangma Grassland Scenic Area in Xingren county, Cycling campsite in Zhenfeng county and some other scenic spots were expanded or renovated this year.

Some favorable policies were issued by the local government to draw more tourists from neighboring provinces. Those born in Yunnan province and Chongqing Municipality can visit the three major tourism destinations-Maling River Gorge, Wanfeng Forest and Wanfeng Lake-free of charge.
