A group wedding ceremony in the tradition of the Bouyei ethnic group was held in Zhenfeng county, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, on Aug 8.

Ninety-nine couples from around China, all dressed in traditional Bouyei wedding attire, proceeded through the step-by-step rituals of the ceremony.

Brides rode in 99 red sedan chairs in a procession through Nakong village to the Sanchahe campsite.

Following the instructions of the host, the couples stepped through braziers, believed to drive away evil spirit, and wooden saddles symbolizing peace and good fortune. The couples then offered sacrifices to the heavens and earth, receiving wishes from four Bouyei seniors.

The group wedding attracted more than 10,000 visitors to Zhenfeng county. The couples will head to local attractions, such as Beipanjiang Valley and Zhenfeng Ancient City, in the following days.
