The Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture received two new national honors for local tourism, as its Wanfeng Forest and annual International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports were both recently recognized by the State. 

The National Tourism Administration and General Administration of Sports of China awarded 30 national tourism demonstration bases and 33 national sports and tourism events on June 28. Wanfeng Forest and International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports were the only respective entities selected from Guizhou province. 

Located southeast of Xingyi in Qianxinan, Wanfeng Forest is famous for its amazing Karst landforms formed by the mountains and forests in the region. Covering more than 2,000 square meters, the forest accounts for two-thirds of the whole of Xingyi. It has also won other national titles, such as National Geological Park and National 5A Rating Scenic Area. 

The International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports is China's only State-level outdoor sports conference. Held each autumn in Qianxinan, the event aims to promote the sustainable development of mountain tourism, and encourage cooperation within the industry to alleviate regional poverty through tourism.
