Deals signed at Qianxinan food festival

The Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture witnessed 71 agreements valued at 26.8 billion yuan ($3.9 billion) signed at the first International Mountain Food Festival held from June 28 to 30. 

Deals between companies from across the country and the local government will promote local traditional cooked delicacies and develop a modern sales model.

Running until June 30, the food festival attracted more than 260 catering companies, with 800 exhibitors taking part and pledging to cooperate together to boost the food industry and drive local economic growth. 

"Qianxinan is rich in culinary and tourism resources. The government will provide exemplary support to catering businesses," said Qianxinan government official Yang Yongying.

Han Ming, chairman of the China Hospitality Association, said, "The food festival will serve as a platform to attract more visitors to the region and lift the local population out of poverty."
