Updated: 2017-06-29
A cross-country cycling challenge geared up in Xingren county, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, on June 25.
Some 100 cyclists from across Guizhou province gathered in Xingren county's Baling town, braving the rain to attend the race.
To ensure the security of the cyclists, the organizer changed the originally hilly course to a smoother road around Lyuyin River.
"The whole course stretched 9 kilometers and gave the participants an enjoyable and safe competition in the rain," said Xu Bing, president of the Xingren Cycling Association.
"It is raining, but it is cool and suitable for cycling," said Chen Guangrong. a 69-year-old cyclist from Anlong county and the oldest participant.
Baling town aims to increase its fame by hosting such events, promoting its local economy and tourism.
