Taijiquan prolongs local people's life

A kind of traditional Chinese martial arts, taijiquan (also known as tai chi) is widely promoted in Xingren county in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture and is reported to help local people prolong their life expectancy.
Xingren county has a population of about 510,000 people and has more than 10,000 elderly people above 80 and 58 centenarians. The average life expectancy of local people is 77.02 years old.
It was awarded the title of "China's longevity county" by the Gerontological Society of China (GSC) in 2016.
Taijiquan, highlighting the breathing skills and harmony of both body and mind, is believed to be one of the secrets of the longevity county.
