Cherry trees have burst into bloom recently in Lutun town, Guizhou province, attracting tourists from all over China.

Lutun town is in Yilong pilot zone, a region with a warm climate that is projected for economic growth. Many ethnic groups have settled there, including Bouyei, Hui, Miao and Yi people, and this has enriched local customs.

Lutun has its roots in the Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC). The town was prosperous during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), and many of its buildings from those times have been well preserved, including memorial archways and ancient tombs.
