Plum plantations have proven to be a lucrative investment for residents in Yangliu village, Guizhou province.

Plum planting bases have been thriving in Guizhou due to its low elevation and high temperatures. “Thanks to geographical conditions and a warm spring, the plum trees have blossoms over 10 days earlier than last year.” said You Chunyan, a planter from Yangliu village.

Siyue, a species of plum, has a better taste and shorter growth period than other local breeds. You Chunyan earned more than 50,000 yuan ($7230) last year selling Siyue plums, driving him to double the size of his planting area and hire new workers.
