The park was approved by the Guizhou economy and information commission in 2011 and has a planned area of 913.6 hectares (in 2015), including 834 hectares for construction land. The park consists of Mulong and Hexin areas. 

The Mulong light industry park sits in the southwest area of Dingxiao development zone. It focuses on food processing, special agricultural byproducts processing, pharmaceuticals, plastic products processing, apparel, accessories, and metal products processing. Management, living, and services facilities have been well developed. 

Hexin industrial area sits in the east of Dingxiao. It focuses on Qianxinan's abundant mineral resources and relies on coking, building material, and artificial panel industries. It will develop machining, metallurgy (ferroalloy, metal recovery, and rolling metal) as a follow-up industry.
