Kafa was one stop of the Chinese Red Army's Long March from 1934 to 1936. The Red Army entered Guizhou province on December 10, 1934. After Zunyi Conference, Chinese soldiers continued heading south to avoid enemy. The first corps of the Red Army with over 10,000 people entered Wangmo County on April 16, 1935. They passed by Wangmo County and fought against the enemy in Guanji and Yangjia for three times, with 26 soldiers dead and around 10 lost in Wangmo County. There are grave monuments built in the county to commemorate the deceased and slogans written by Chinese soldiers are well preserved there.
