V. Various Organisms

The forest coverage in Qianxinan is as high as 50 percent. The prefecture fosters over 20 kinds of rare and endangered tree species, including gingko, tulip tree, spinulose tree fern, and cycas guizhouensis, and over 2,000 kinds of herbal medicinal plants, such as dendrobe, gastrodia elata, eucommia, pseudo-ginseng, and glossy ganoderma. Thus it is viewed as one of the most valuable areas for herbal medicinal plants in Guizhou province.
