On Aug 16, the highly anticipated 2025 Ordos Marathon kicked off at Ulanmulun Lake Square in Kangbashi district, Ordos.

The event drew 25,000 participants from six countries, including Colombia, Ethiopia, Thailand, and Kenya, as well as from across China. It was divided into four categories: men's and women's marathons, a half marathon, a 10-km health run, and a 5-km fun run, catering to runners of all levels.

Both the start and finish lines were set at the scenic Ulanmulun Lake Square, and runners experienced Ordos' natural beauty and distinctive architecture along the route.

A key highlight this year was the introduction of the "Resident Award", which boosted public participation and marked a step toward transforming the event from a professional competition into a citywide celebration. The initiative has inspired greater enthusiasm among local and regional running enthusiasts.
