Two major projects – the Uxin Banner Wind-Solar Hydrogen Integration Project and the Green Decarbonization Upgrade Project – broke ground on Dec 18 in Ordos city. The total approved investment is approximately 11 billion yuan ($1.52 billion).
Key construction components include green hydrogen and oxygen coupling systems, 30,000 metric tons of green hydrogen production per year, 60.36 kilometers of 220 kV transmission lines, and supporting utilities and auxiliary facilities.
The projects are expected to be operational by 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Once completed, they will extend, enhance, and strengthen the coal chemical circular economy industry chain in Ordos.
These advancements aim to transition the city's coal resources from a "fuel-oriented" to a "feedstock-oriented" model and its products from "basic processing" to "high-end manufacturing".
