The "Resource Utilization and Engineering Application Practice of Associated Solid Waste in Shanghaimiao Coal Mine" at New Shanghai No 1 Coal Mine in Otog Front Banner, Ordos city, was honored as a 2024 National Benchmark Case in the coal industry.
The innovative coal gangue road engineering material technology, developed by New Shanghai No 1 Coal Mine in collaboration with China University of Mining and Technology and Ordos Endian Zhilu Environmental Technology Development Co, represents a significant achievement in industry-academia-research cooperation.
The technology utilizes coal gangue as aggregate to produce green, low-carbon road engineering materials. It fully replaces traditional sand and gravel aggregates in subgrade base layers, cement-stabilized crushed stone layers, and concrete curbs.
The application of this technology fills a regional gap in Inner Mongolia for using coal gangue in road construction within mining areas and preparing hardened spraying materials for tunnels.
It is significant for implementing the new energy security strategy, developing new quality productive forces, promoting green and low-carbon transformation, and enhancing value creation capabilities.
In recent years, New Shanghai No 1 Coal Mine has strived to upgrade through technological innovation and the introduction and cultivation of talent. It has established a comprehensive technological research and development system covering mining, transportation, washing and selection, and solid waste utilization.
The mine has also been awarded titles such as "national high-tech enterprise" and "leading enterprise in technological innovation in Inner Mongolia." It has also been granted 17 invention patents, received the National Patent Excellence Award, and achieved two internationally leading and five internationally advanced results.
