The first phase of the Ordos Xinchuang New Materials Co's project, located in the Juungar Economic Development Zone of Ordos city, recently commenced trial production.
This phase focuses on the graphitization section of the project, which aims to produce 80,000 metric tons of lithium-ion battery anode materials annually.
With a total investment of 2.72 billion yuan ($372.60 million) and covering an area of 823.66 mu (55.51 hectares), the project will be completed in three phases.
The first phase, which includes the construction of two graphitization sections, is expected to be fully operational by 2025, with an expected annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of graphitized anode materials.
This project marks a significant milestone for Ordos, as it is the city’s first lithium-ion battery anode material project. Once fully operational, it is projected to generate an annual revenue of 3.4 billion yuan and contribute 430 million yuan in taxes annually. Additionally, it is expected to create over 1,000 jobs.
