A 1.5-MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project invested and constructed by China National Petroleum Corporation in Ordos has recently passed inspection and commenced power generation.

The 7.26-million-yuan ($994,520.55) project comprises five locations with a total capacity of 1.5 MW and utilizes fixed brackets for installation.

The person in charge of the project said that installing distributed photovoltaic projects on the rooftops of life support facilities not only absorbs some of the heat and reduces rooftop temperatures, but also provides clean energy.

Installing distributed photovoltaic projects in sandy and saline-alkali areas near gas gathering stations transforms barren lands into oasis, effectively utilizing the land while generating a continuous supply of green electricity.

By fully utilizing the open spaces and rooftops near the gas gathering stations to build distributed photovoltaic power generation systems, the project achieves "self-generation for self-use, surplus electricity to the grid."

It is predicted to generate an average of 2.16 million kWh per year, saving over 2 million yuan in electricity costs annually.

Meanwhile, it is expected to reduce standard coal consumption by 660.86 metric tons per year, reduce particulate emissions by approximately 0.87 tons, and decrease carbon dioxide emissions by about 1,778.15 tons annually.
