"Golden Dragon Welcoming Spring", a sugar sculpturing work from Juungar Banner of Ordos city, shined on the CCTV-17 program Sannong Changduan Shuo on Jan 3.

The report showcased the fusion of traditional sugar sculpting techniques and modern artistry by Ye Ailian, an inheritor of Juungar Banner's sugar sculpting techniques. She has innovatively crafted sugar sculptures with a Chinese knot theme to celebrate the New Year.

Sugar sculpting, also known as sugar flowers, or sugar figurines, uses wheat flour as the main ingredient.

Ye mixes it with various colors, and with the help of sugar sculpting tools, she skillfully kneads, rolls, and shapes the dough into lifelike sculptures. After steaming them for 10 minutes, these exquisite sugar sculptures come to life.

"Sugar sculpting is a delicate craft. It takes about half an hour to create a piece," said Ye. Among her work, she says that "Golden Dragon Welcoming Spring" is the most innovative.
