The Ordos branch of Chery Automobile Co recently unveiled its new energy passenger vehicle production line, receiving an impressive 612 million yuan ($83.84 million) in investment.
It is the first new energy passenger vehicle production line in Ordos.
Having been thoroughly examined and verified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the line reportedly employs automated machinery and tools to ensure efficient operations.
Outfitted with a powertrain assembly line, battery installation equipment, off-line electrical fault diagnosis tools, insulation testing devices, and exclusive charging stations, this new production line stands out in its ability to cater to both new energy passenger vehicles and traditional fuel vehicles simultaneously.
Its main production areas cover stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly, with the main product being plug-in hybrid new energy passenger vehicles.
Li Ming, manager of the process management section of the manufacturing department at the Ordos branch, said: "The new energy passenger vehicle production line alone can produce up to 20,000 units annually. In combination with our traditional petrol vehicle manufacturing line, we currently have a total capacity of 100,000 units per year."
"Our next aim is to increase this to an annual capacity of 200,000 units." Li added.
