Ordos holds performance to commemorate 100th birth anniversary of Jia Zuoguang

A special dance performance commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Jia Zuoguang was held at the Ordos Grand Theater, captivating the audience.

The performance was an essential part of the 14th National Dance Exhibition.

The show featured the reenactment of Jia Zuoguang's dance creations, including "Horse Herding Dance," "Ordos Dance," and "Hailang." Divided into three sections, the performance showcased a total of 18 dance pieces, paying homage to the dance master.

Jia Zuoguang, a member of the Manchu ethnic group, was a pioneer in China's modern ethnic and folk dance.

Jia was also one of the founding members of the Beijing Dance Academy. Throughout his career, Jia created more than 150 dance works, making outstanding contributions to the dance industry in China.

His achievements were recognized with awards such as the "Performing Arts Achievement Award" from the former Ministry of Culture, the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the China Federation Literature and Art Circles, and the China Dancers Association.

Known as the "leader of Chinese dance," Jia was affectionately referred to as the "son of the grasslands" by herders in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. He has left an indelible mark on the development of Chinese ethnic and folk dance.
