On the morning of June 13, the official opening of the 15th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Sports Games Rugby Competition was held at the Ordos Sports Development Center in Ordos city.

A total of 355 athletes from eight leagues and cities participated in the three-day competition, which was broken down into four groups: Men's Group A, Men's Group B, Women's Group A, and Women's Group B.

Some 48 athletes from Ordos participated in all four groups, achieving the excellent result of four wins and one loss in the first five matches of the competition.

The first match was held between representative teams from Tongliao and Bayannuur. The format is seven-player teams with games lasting 14 minutes.

The rugby competition represents the full commencement of all summer projects of the 15th Inner Mongolia Sports Games.

The Inner Mongolia Sports Games Rugby Competition is hosted by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's People's Government and organized by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Sports Bureau and the Ordos municipal people's government.

The winner and runner-up will face each other in a special playoff match on the afternoon of June 15.
