The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region will build four world-class industries to contribute to Chinese-style modernization.

The industries will position Ordos as an important national energy and strategic resource base, prioritize ecological and green development, and promote industrial transformation and upgrading.

According to the plan, Ordos will seek to build a world-class energy industry. By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Ordos' coal output should exceed 1 billion metric tons, and the installed power capacity should exceed 100 million kilowatts.

New energy installed capacity should account for more than 50 percent of the city's total, and the natural gas output should exceed 33 billion cubic meters.

Meanwhile, Ordos will also seek to build a world-class modern coal chemical industry.

Adhering to the important requirement of "strengthening the clean and efficient utilization of coal", Ordos will promote the high-end, diversified and low-carbon development of the coal chemical industry.

At the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the modern coal chemical production capacity of Ordos should exceed 30 million tons, while it should exceed 50 million tons at the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).

Ordos plans to create the most complete industrial categories, longest industrial chain, most complete industrial system, most advanced industrial technology, and largest world-class modern coal chemical industry in the world.

Ordos will also seek to build a world-class new energy industry.

By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the total output value of the five major industries of wind energy, solar power, hydrogen energy, new energy vehicles and energy storage in Ordos should exceed 500 billion yuan ($71.33 billion).

It will seek to build itself into the world's largest photovoltaic industry base, largest energy storage industry base, largest hydrogen energy industry base, and largest new energy heavy truck base.

In addition, Ordos will build a world-class cashmere industry. It will comprehensively promote the revitalization and the high-quality development of its cashmere industry, and build the world cashmere capital with the largest scale, most complete technical system and strongest brand competitiveness.
