The aviation industry in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has achieved rapid development over the last 15 years.

During the period, strong efforts have been made by Ordos to expand flight routes as well as add aviation destinations and transfer sites.

In 2007, the first civic flight took off from the Ordos airport, marking the start of aviation services in the city.

In 2016, the Ordos Ejin Horoo International Airport was approved to open up to the outside world, and officially operated its first international flight that same year.

Since 2017, Ordos has taken measures to boost the development of its aviation industry, attracting tourists to visit the city and its neighboring tourist cities.

An aviation network connecting Ordos to the eastern Inner Mongolian cities of Manzhouli and Hailaar, the western Chinese cities of Dunhuang, Xining and Lhasa, the northern city of Irkutsk, and Moscow, Russia, has been gradually taking shape.

Ordos' flight network currently connects it to 132 cities.

In addition to the development of its flight routes, Ordos airport is making every effort to promote the development of an aviation training center, maintenance center, flight test center and delivery center.

What's more, the Ordos airport will become the first designated supervision site for imported fruits, edible aquatic animals and imported chilled aquatic products in Inner Mongolia after receiving approval from the General Administration of Customs.
