Genghis Khan Grand Prix from Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region was included into the 33 national sports demonstration events selected for 2020, which was recently announced by the General Administration of Sport of China.
The Genghis Khan Grand Prix was officially launched in September 2011. It is operated by a professional racing management team and strictly enforces international-standard race rules.
The event is committed to discovering outstanding private drivers, with the goal of driving the development of motor racing in Inner Mongolia and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Ordos International Circuit serves as the host site of the event and is the only large-scale international circuit in China that has an international second-level circuit. It is a core project of Ordos city to create motorsports tourism and leisure.
The racing track covers an area of 1,590 hectares. The track is 3.75 kilometers in length and consists of 18 curves with different turning radii.
The track is shaped like a galloping horse, while the main stand resembles a flying eagle.
In recent years, Ordos is making efforts to drive its tourism development through developing motor racing events. It has successfully hosted more than 200 events, which have received around 800,000 tourists.
