Inner Mongolia’s new train schedule goes into effect on Jan 20

Updated: 2020-12-24 Print

To cope with the approaching Spring Festival travel rush, the China Railway Department plans to implement a new train schedule and route map from midnight on Jan 20, 2021.

According to the new schedule, three pairs of trains running between Hohhot East and Zhengzhou, Baotou and Zhengzhou, and Hohhot East and Jinan West will be added, connecting Inner Mongolia’s Hohhot and Baotou cities to Central China’s Henan province and East China’s Shandong province.

It will be the first time EMU trains operate a single journey of more than six hours in central and western Inner Mongolia.

Meanwhile, the number of high-speed trains running between Inner Mongolia and Beijing will be adjusted to 28 pairs daily and 31 pairs on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and other peak periods.

The number of daily trains from Inner Mongolia to Beijing North will increase from the previous eight to 10.

Additionally, the existing two pairs of trains running between Hohhot East and Taiyuan South will be extended to run between Baotou and Taiyuan South.

To further intensify the connection between the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway and the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos urban circle and facilitate passengers in western Inner Mongolia to transfer to high-speed rail, two pairs of express passenger trains from Hohhot to Linhe and Wuhai West to Ordos will be launched.

Also, the number of EMU trains between Hohhot, Baotou, Ordos and Wuhai will increase to 20 pairs per day.

Passenger tickets for the adjusted train map went on sale on Dec 22.

Travelers can learn about the schedule and route changes by visiting China Railway’s official website or mobile app or by listening to station announcements.
