Poverty alleviation work yields results
In 2014, a total of 24,028 residents from 9,286 households were registered as impoverished in Ordos city and the incidence rate of poverty was 1.38 percent.
By the end of 2019, all of the registered poverty-stricken residents in Ordos city had been lifted out of poverty and the incidence rate of poverty had dropped to zero.
Since 2016, dilapidated houses owned by 2,073 households in Ordos city have been renovated. Moreover, a total of 3,959 residents from 1,587 households have been relocated to new housing.
Additionally, Ordos has optimized its student funding policy system from kindergarten to university. At present, no students have dropped out of school during the basic education stage due to poverty.
Coverage rates for critical illness insurance and medical assistance for poverty-stricken people have both reached 100 percent.
